Base Price, Engine, and Trim Levels
Starting from $31,670, the new Tiguan is available in four trim levels: the S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line. Front-wheel drive is standard, while the world-renowned 4Motion all-wheel drive system is standard on SEL R-Line models and optional on all others. The engine is the same 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder as before, but upgraded to now offer 201 horsepower, an increase of 17, and 207 lb-ft of torque for FWD trims and 221 for 4Motion-equipped models. All models benefit from an 8-speed automatic transmission that brings smooth, quick shifts with an intelligence that knows the perfect gear to be in at all times.
A Nice Slim Down
Volkswagen worked hard to make the Tiguan not just premium looking and feeling, but also shed some 170 lbs. Thanks to the updated engine and less weight, the VW now gets better fuel economy, with FWD models achieving an EPA-estimated 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, with 29 mpg combined. The EPA says that 4Motion models will get 22 (city) and 30 on the highway, with 25 mpg combined.
Excellent Tech
Drivers will love the added tech with the standard 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro gauge cluster and 12.9-inch infotainment display that grows to 15 inches in the SEL R-Line. Volkswagen offers a unique A.I. voice assistant called Plus Speech with A.I., along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A new 15-watt charging pad and four USB-C ports, two front and two rear, offer 45-watt fast charging for everything from phones to laptops, and even devices like the Nintendo Switch 2.
A Powerful Sound System
The optional Harmon Kardon sound system offers 700 watts and 12 speakers, including a subwoofer, plus a 16-channel amp that will make you the envy of every other crossover owner around.
Towing Capacities
Buyers looking to tow jet skis, motorcycles, or the like will love the standard 1,500 lbs of towing capacity in FWD trims, increasing to 1,800 lbs for AWD models.
