How Did The 2025 Volkswagen Taos Fare With Carpro.com

The Volkswagen Taos is making waves in the industry. It not only offers more space and performance in its class, but it also delivers great value in a German-engineered vehicle. The CarPro website recently took a spin in a 2025 Taos SEL with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Let’s see what they think about our compact SUV.

Keep in mind that there have been nominal changes between the 2025 and 2026 Taos. It is still powered by a 174-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 184 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard on all Taos models, but you can choose between front-wheel drive and the 4Motion all-wheel drive.

According to CarPro, this driveline “improves power delivery, and contributes to better refinement and improved fuel economy.” The EPA rates the 2025 and 2026 Taos with 4Motion at 25 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway.

The 2025 revisions mirror the latest design language across the Volkswagen lineup. That includes sleeker front LED headlamps with the available Adaptive Front Lighting System, a light bar across the upper front fascia, a large grille on the bumper, and an LED horizontal rear lighting signature. The roofline is tall and inviting, allowing more passengers and cargo to be carried.

The interior is modern and spacious. You can carry up to 65.9 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats lowered. You also get the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit in front of the driver, along with an eight-inch touchscreen display in the center of the dashboard. You can connect your smartphone wirelessly via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

CarPro adds, “[t]he Taos retains familiar physical controls for essential functions, but touch-sensitive climate sliders and a compact gear selector bring a more modern edge, although not as easy to operate.”

When it comes to safety, IQ.DRIVE has you covered with a suite of driver assistance technologies that protect you and your passengers from harm. This includes Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, and Lane Assist.

How does it drive? CarPro said that the 2025 Taos “rides and handles very well, quite sporty for a small SUV.  Visibility is great, and interior noise is much better than I’ve had with many small SUVs.”

In conclusion, CarPro said this about the 2025 Taos: “[p]rice-wise, it is one of the better buys out there for an all-wheel drive with an extremely long list of standard features and a very nice interior.”
